Aberdare Park Races.

This is just one of our photo’s from our German trip. We stopped at this Garage in Garmisch. I don’t know what kind of service they provide! The owner offered me a hand but I told him I only had a 2 stroke.

(I know, I know. Now we all know it’s pronounced Vank!) But still ….

Anyway now for some proper biker stuff.

For those of you who want to see some exciting motorcycle racing up close, extremely close, then Aberdare Park Motorcycle Race meeting is for you.

Saturday the 26th and Sunday 27th of July. Next Weekend. At, yes you guessed it, Aberdare Park.

The racing takes place through the park. Along the normally quiet footpaths that meander through the flower beds. The racers are absolute nutters!

Straw Bales ‘duck taped’ to the trees are the only protection afforded these blokes.

Reaching speeds that you wouldn’t believe and the crowds are treated to a viewpoint so close you can almost smell the sweat as the riders go past. (or maybe that’s just the odour from the bloke who runs the burger van).

Racing starts at 9am each day and entrance fee is only £10 for an adult.

I worked there when I was still in the job on the bikes and at the end of the races I had a go around the track on a patrol bike. I came to the conclusion that to reach the speeds that these racers did they are some seriously skilled bikers.

I almost ended up in the Duck Pond.

This meeting is well worth a visit and for just a tenner you wont get entertainment like it….unless of course you go for the 2 stroke service at the ‘Wank Garage’ that is!

I’ve yet to decide my movements next weekend but hopefully I’ll be able to go on one of the days so if anyone might fancy a breakfast and some great racing let me know and I’ll confirm what I’m doing.
