Don’t Miss the Chance. Accredited Advanced Course & RoSPA Test

Accredited Training Course

These courses have been developed for all riders wishing to improve their knowledge and skills to the very highest levels. Each course is designed to offer a quality assured level of training, as yet, not readily available within the industry.

The courses offer an opportunity to have your skills tested under the RoSPA Graded Advanced Testing System. All our instructors are RoSPA Examiners and are well qualified to pass on their wealth of experience to make you a safer and smoother rider. The best of the best.

We believe that these courses are unique because they are run entirely by Class-One Advanced Police Riders.

Experienced ‘Hand Picked’ Local Trainers

Each of the course instructors is a police class-one qualified advanced permit holder and holds a Training and Development teaching qualification or BTEC in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction. You can be confident that each of these trainers can assist with your riding development.

With our Head Office based in Cardiff we are well aware of the problems encountered by riders using the challenging Welsh Mountain roads. We have seen at first hand the consequences of riders failing to read a bend or rushing an overtake without proper planning. We can offer these courses to you in Wales through a locally appointed trainer who is familiar with the problems faced by motorcyclists in the South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed Powys Police force areas.

Andy Smith runs 1st Class Rider Training and is a Police Class one motorcyclist having recently retired from South Wales Police after 25 years, the last 13 of which were served as a full time Police patrol rider. He is also VIP Escort trained and worked extensively on many escorts for Royalty and visiting dignitaries both in Wales and Scotland. He is currently an Examiner for the RoSPA Advanced Motorcycle Test and holds the RoSPA Diploma teaching qualification. Formerly an Assessor for the Advanced Assessment carried out under The Edge scheme. He is a DSA qualified motorcycle instructor for CBT and Direct Access training.

He was responsible for introducing the Bikesafe motorcycle safety scheme to South Wales and received the Texaco Sponsored ‘Wales Road Safety Award’ in 2000 in recognition of his services to motorcycling.

Andy has built up a small but dedicated team of instructors, whose expertise is impressive and will see you through your course, guiding you in the classroom as well as being on your shoulder out on the road.

The rider’s course was developed with the help of police motorcycle instructors to offer a training course that meets the needs of a wide range of riding skills and expectations.

Course Duration.

The course itself offers 4 days of training covering both the theory as well as on-road riding skills. We believe that a rider needs to fully understand the theory to be able to ride to their best ability. (The first two days are held consecutively followed by two other mutually agreed days, arranged convenient to yourself)

The course is broken down into the following learning elements.

a) 2 days of classroom based theory training

b) A period of self-study and practise (to suit you)

c) Followed by 2 days on road riding to be arranged separately (2 x 1 ratio)

The course is based on the police system of training and delivered by experienced professional trainers.
