Dr Doolittle, War Horse & Wolfman! Ride Out 13th Jan.

Happy New Year to all my Biking Chums.  I hope you all had a good Christmas.  We all survived the Mayan Apocalypse and lived through the end of The World so now its time for the first Ride Out of 2013.  If you are in to weird dates, the Ride Out will be Sunday 13.1.13.

We are heading for Castle Combe in the Cotswolds.  A charming little village which was thrust into the cinematic spotlight in 1966 when it was used as the backdrop for the hit musical ‘Dr Doolittle’.  More recently also used prominently in the blockbuster ‘War Horse’ and more spookily in the remake of  ‘Wolfman’. Some filming for the film ‘Stardust’ also took place here.  Although the history of the village goes back much further, beyond the Roman occupation. Often called ‘the prettiest village in England’ and with good reason.

This picture shows a ride out to the village in sunnier times.  This ride out will require crossing the Old Severn Bridge, on the M48 so wont be suitable for anyone on L plates.  We will be meeting at Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar, on the Top of Caerphilly Mountain (strangely enough) just off the A469 up from Thornhill.

So to keep in with the 13 theme, we will be meeting at 9.13 for a 9.26am departure (13 minutes later).  There are several establishments in the village which serve good Sunday Lunches.  And I know after Christmas you are starting to crave for a big cooked dinner again.

So come with us, to take tea in Chipping Sodbury, Lunch with the Wolfman in Castle Combe and of course you can try talking to the animals……  We would all like to ‘Chatter to a Chimp in Chimpanzee’…

Come on….you know you want to….
