Ride Out 15th March.

1414724213fileeng The Next Ride Out will be sunday the 15th of March, to the only distillery in Wales (legal distillery that is…)

Penderyn Welsh Wisky.  As the name suggests they make Whisky in Penderyn, in Wales.

Meeting at MacDonald’s at junction 32 of the M4, coryton Interchange for a 9.30am departure.

We will travel to Penderyn….which is where they make Welsh Whisky don’t you know!

An entry fee of £5, will get you in for a tour of the distillery (which takes about an hour) and includes a tasting of the fine golden liquor, as well as a money off voucher if you make a purchase on the day.

They will show you how it is made and you get to taste some.

Apparently they wash the coal and use the dust, strained through the wool of a virgin ewe (hard to find I know) and then they get a Male Voice Choir to sign to it and hey presto…Welsh Whisky…. or something like that it is.

So no stones in fields with plaques and tales of blood shed but a visit to this historic site, the home of this award winning Single Malt.

The Snow has gone, the Grand Slam has gone, Woolworths has gone, so come and have a look at something that is making a welcome comeback. Welsh Whisky, Whisky made in Wales.

After the visit we’ll find a mountain to ride over,  near a cafe to eat in and a breakfast to savour.

Come on…you know you want to….

Sunday the 15th 9.30am junction 32.

  1. So, how about we round out the trip by nipping across the border to the Chase Distillery (William Chase, he of Tyrrells Crisps, is now distilling vodka from the same potatoes) at Felton about 5 miles north of Hereford …

Then a quick snifter at the Dunkertons Cider, a few miles away at Pembridge or if you’re after a visitor centre then Westons Cider in Much Marcle, just off the old Ledbury Road.

Can we re-classify this as a ‘wobble’ rather than a ride-out in advance …

  2. Craig, That all sounds like fun but there doesn’t seem to be much eating in your plan…all drinking. Vodka from potatos indeed. Surely you mean chips or crisps, or roasties, or jackets or mash,……….

  3. Andy, if there is food to be found en-route then I’m confident that you’d find it …

Perhaps we’re going about this all wrong … if Penderyn is now distillng whisky, maybe they’re breeding haggis as well … a bit of roadkill must be inevitable under the onslaught of so many wobbly (and heavyweight) bikers, run the buggers down I say, before they overrun the place like Tribbles.

As a Welshman, do our bit, save a sheep today, squash a haggis … before its too late!

Anyway, time for the meds 😉

  4. Craig, What are you doing thumping away on your keyboard at gone 2 o’clock in the morning!……but it’s catching as I’m still up too.

Just planning the War Graves Trip so there should be a blog coming out about that very shortly.
