Ride Out. Biker Down Course, Advanced Course and a tiny bit of Scotland

Ride Out.  Saturday the 30th of March. This is a Saturday ride out so as not to clash with Easter Sunday. For our next Ride Out we are heading West.  Can anyone guess from the picture where we are heading.  It will be a 9.30am departure from Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar and heading to the picturesque little Seaside Town.  Picturesque now but for centuries coal was exported from there and loaded on to ships from the beach.  But in 1829 a jetty was built to aid the coal export.  The town is dissected by the remains of the tramways that brought the coal to the town.  Now the trains bring tourists.  And more Ice Cream is exported than coal these days.  Any ideas?Well, whether you know or not….. that’s where we are going.

Advanced Motorcycle Course (Start Dates 20th & 21st of April – remaining dates to be fixed)

There is still space on this course, which is a four day course, based on Roadcraft, The Police Riders Handbook.  It is four days spread over a number of weeks to suit you. The classroom based theory sessions are done as a group and then the group is split into pairs for the road sessions with highly qualified instructors (Police Class 1 or RoSPA Qualified).  At the end of the course candidates will have the opportunity to take the RoSPA Advanced Motorcycle Test.  This course is exceptional value at just £550 for four days.  For those wishing to take the test, there is an additional fee payable to RoSPA which includes your test fee and RoSPA membership.  Please email me if you haven’t already to ensure that your name is on the list.  There have been a couple of you who have expressed an interest so please email me to secure your space.

Biker Down Course.  Llandrindod Wells. Saturday the 4th of May- Ride Out.

The Ride Out for May will be to Llandrindod Wells to take the acclaimed ‘Biker Down’ Course.  This date is being opened up exclusively for 1st Class Rider Students and Ride Out Club Members.  Spaces are restricted to just 20 so it is important that you email me to get on the list for this.  It is being published on here first but will also be going on our Facebook Page.

The course is run by Powys Fire Service and gives instruction on the best actions for the first bike on the scene of a crash.  How to make the scene safe and includes emergency first aid advice.  You will also be shown the correct method of removing a motorcycle helmet from a casualty.

Spaces are restricted to just 20 and whilst the course is free, I will be taking a security deposit of £20 in advance which I will refund in full when you attend the course.  This is to ensure that spaces are not taken up by people who will say they are coming and then not attend on the day. (cos’ its raining…. it was cold… or whatever).  You’ll have to come to get your money back!

The course is three hours so we will leave Cardiff to be at Llandrinod Wells for a 10.30am (time to be confirmed) start.

So please get your name on the list early for this one. Thanks to Powys Council for putting this on for us.

A Little Bit of Scotland.  Or Rather, a lot of Scotland…. but a little bit of space!

We are still being asked if there is space for any more on the Scottish Splendour Tour taking place at the end of April.  There is… but not much.  We had three people add themselves to the list this week and there were a couple on the last ride out that expressed an interest.

If you want to come please let me know.  There is a pre-trip meeting scheduled for the afternoon of the 23rd of March at The Dragonfly Pub & Restaurant, at Cleppa Park.  Just off Tredegar Park Interchange of the M4 at junction 28, on the A48 towards Cardiff.

At this meeting the list will have to close.  So if you are not sure then please come along to the meeting but the hotels need to close their books on this as they are holding spaces for us, but they can’t do this for much longer.

Ardennes Forest Tour.  Belgium.  June 21st Friday to the 23rd Sunday.

We are off to The Ardennes Region of Belgium again.  This three day tour includes Return Ferry Crossing from Dover to Calais and two nights Bed & Breakfast Accommodation.  This will be a guided tour and will be restricted to a maximum of 10 riders.

These Cross Channel Tours prove popular and the spaces are quick to sell.  The cost will be in the region of £300 – £350(max) and is dependent on final Hotel charges when the payment is made.

The Ardennes has some fantastic biking roads with spectacular scenery and some challenging twisty roads.  I’m going back to visit my last pair of boots as I left half of them scraped away on the forest roads!

So I hope there is something here for you.  If there is, then don’t just think about it.  Get your name on the list (or lists).

Come on……. you know you want to……..
