Two Ride Outs coming up. NEC Bike Show & Hospital Teddy Bear Run.

Hi my Biking Chums.  Thanks to all who came on the Pink Ribbon Ride out last month.  We collected £125 for the April Jones fund which I deposited in the collection with the proprietor at the Diner on the high street.  Thanks Again.

Here are details of the next Ride Outs to come.  Two quite close together.

Sunday the 25th November.A Ride Out to the Motorcycle Live – Motorcycle Show at the NEC in Birmingham.  Meeting at the Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar for a run up the A465 to Hereford and taking the scenic route across to the M5 at Worcester.  Meeting for a 9am departure.  (An early start to give us more time at the show).

Tickets can be purchased online on the Motorcycle Live web site and they are slightly cheaper than paying at the door.

Sunday the 9th of December. Hospital Teddy Bear Run to the Children’s Casualty Unit.  Meeting at Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar for a 9.30am departure to the Hospital.  This is our annual Teddy Bear Run to the Children’s Casualty Unit at the UHW, Heath Hospital.  The idea is to take a Teddy Bear (at least one each – but a bag full would be nice…) to the Casualty Unit so that if a child who is in there for treatment, becomes attached to the Bear, then they can get to take it home with them.

It is believed that if a child becomes attached to a toy at a time they are suffering some trauma then it aids their recovery if they are able to keep it.  Any child who is unfortunate enough to find themselves needing emergency treatment over the Christmas period can have the benefit of a cuddly little friend to see them through the ordeal.

So, lots of smaller Bears are more suitable than one big one.  We don’t want to take a Teddy so big that it might hinder any treatment being given.  A small Teddy friend that can be hugged without getting in the way is better.

Once again Ikea are selling Teddy Bears and other cuddly toys from as little as 40p so you can fill your panniers for a couple of quid.  Ikea will also donate 1 Euro to UNICEF for each toy sold.  So it’s a double benefit for kids.

Last year we took over 400 Teddy Bears and other furry friends to the Hospital.  Please lets see if we can beat it this year.

Scottish Tour in the Spring of 2013.  There are still a few spaces available on the Scottish Splendour Tour arranged for next Spring.  Please see the previous Blog Posts for full details.  It’s not too late to get your name on the list.  So contact Russ to confirm your place.

Bikegear Bridgend. I  still have vouchers which will give you 10% off kit at Bikegear in Bridgend.  Come along and claim one. Bikegear have a great sale running at the moment so get down there to grab a bargain.

So please come and join us on…… Come on….. you know you want to…..

  3. Hi,
When do you aim to go to Scotland? I would love to come but dates need to be looked at first!

  4. Hi Anna, The Scottish trip is the 24th – 27th of April next year. Full details are on a previous blog post.

  5. I want to join you for the trip to the NEC Bike Show but have a clash on the calendar. What time will we be leaving Birmingham for the return trip?

  6. I’d like to go with you on the ride to the Bike Show but I need to know if you know about what time we are leaving to return.

  7. Hi Justin, we normally arrive before mid day and people tend to do their own thing at the show. Often they leave once they’ve had enough so you are not fixed to a hard and fast return time as people make their own way back if they don’t want to wait.

  8. Hi Andy,

Unfortunately I cannot make the ride with you to the bike show tomorrow,a friend of mine (who is in the job!) is off work next weekend therefore going next Saturday.

    Have a good day

See you on the teddy run

  9. Hi Andy, Happy New Year. Sorry, can’t make your rideout on the 13th, I’m working 🙁
